One contract. Every screen in the building.

Dutywall is not a player you SSH into. It is a site manager: content, power, heartbeats, and emergencies share one config the TVs already understand.

The renderer, not a vendor lock

The player is a web app. Raspberry Pi kiosks, Windows mini-PCs, Android / Fire TV, tablets, and a browser all paint the same layouts. Existing Roku TVs keep a sideloaded channel that speaks the same poll/heartbeat contract. If Roku Developer Mode ever gets painful, you are not rewriting the building. You swap the thin OS wrapper.

Content

Video, slideshows, web pages, rotations, weather, hourly, radar, safety and shift boards, clock, notices, QR, line status, NWS headlines, news, sports with team logos, markets, plus local & civic boards (air quality, UV/pollen, quakes, tides, roads, school closings, calendar).

Compose layouts

Full screen, split, main + ticker, picture-in-picture, and PiP + ticker. Drop weather on main, a saved camera in the corner, and an NWS or news ticker underneath.

Live cameras

Bookmark RTSP on the box. Remux once on-site → WebRTC (~0.5–2 s) on PC/Pi/tablet kiosks, HLS (~6–12 s) on Roku. Credentials never leave the LAN. Capacity & lag times →

News & tickers

Pick providers in Settings (NPR, BBC, Reuters, AP, Fox, Newsmax, and others). Local news auto-mixes from the site place. Tickers can run custom text, NWS, news, sports, markets, AQI, quakes, roads, or calendar.

Scheduling

Dayparting by group and weekday. Power on/off windows. HDMI-CEC on Pi so the TV actually wakes on the right input.

Operations

Self-enrollment codes. Heartbeats and offline detection. Auto-remediation that relaunches a dead kiosk before it pages you. Proof-of-play logging.

Alerting on the same screens

Panel presets, JSON panic webhook, CAP ingest, and NWS severe-weather auto-alerts, per zone or site-wide. Manual always overrides auto. See alerting.

Who the cloud is for

Not required. When you attach a site, the box pulls desired assignments and pushes screen inventory. Cloud Standard ($8/screen) syncs boards, hours, news/sports/markets. Cloud Pro ($15/screen) adds the local & civic content pack managed from dutywall.com, sports logos, remote relaunch/sideload, and digests. Facility Alerting is a separate add-on.

Questions

Do I have to use the cloud?

No. Standalone is the default. Cloud is an optional outbound sync for multi-site operators.

Does this replace our PA system?

No. It covers people who are looking at a wall, not a speaker. It complements PA, SMS, and radio.

Can we show a security camera and weather on one TV?

Yes. Compose a PiP or PiP + ticker layout: weather (or video) on main, a saved camera in the inset, optional NWS/news ticker.

How many cameras can one box remux?

It depends on the host. Plan for about 1–2 simultaneous 540p remuxes on a Pi 4, 3–5 on a Pi 5, and roughly 8–12 on an N100 appliance. A live 4-cam Roku mosaic needs the N100 class (4 remuxes + 1 mosaic encode). A Pi 3 is a display kiosk, not a remux host. See /cameras.
