Linux

Linux is the default on-site box.

A small always-on PC on the facility LAN. Docker Engine, Compose plugin, a reserved IP. This is not a display kiosk.

Need

Install

curl -fsSL -O https://dutywall.com/download/dutywall-standalone.tar.gz
tar -xzf dutywall-standalone.tar.gz
cd dutywall-standalone-*
./scripts/standalone-up.sh
# first run writes .env with this host’s LAN IP: set DUTYWALL_PANEL_PASSWORD, re-run
./scripts/standalone-up.sh

Or from git: same helper from the repo root. Equivalent manual start:

cp .env.standalone.example .env # edit BASE_URL + password + lat/lon
docker compose up -d --build

Confirm

docker compose ps
curl -sS http://127.0.0.1:8090/healthz

Panel: http://<LAN-IP>:8090/, HTTP basic login from .env.

Find the IP if you skipped the helper: hostname -I | awk '{print $1}'

Cameras

docker compose --profile camera up -d

Bookmark RTSP on the panel. Credentials stay on this host.

Next

Questions

Can this be a VM?

Yes, if the hypervisor bridged NIC is on the same LAN the TVs use, and the guest has a stable IP.

Podman?

Not the supported path. Compose + the published image/build is Docker.
